RE:FI STHLM advises senior lender in Intrum recapitalisation

RE:FI STHLM AB has advised a senior lender to Intrum AB in connection with its comprehensive recapitalisation transaction, which rescheduled and restructured approximately EUR 4.5 billion of financial indebtedness.

The advice by RE:FI STHLM covered Swedish law matters, including the application of the Swedish Business Restructuring Act (lag om företagsrekonstruktion) and Swedish security.

The recapitalisation extended the maturity of Intrum’s EUR 1.1 billion revolving credit facility, amended the terms of a EUR 90 million term loan facility, and rescheduled and deleveraged approximately EUR 3.3 billion of unsecured notes issued under nine New York law and Swedish law instruments.

To ensure global effectiveness, the transaction was implemented through a dual-court process: a pre-packaged US Chapter 11 proceeding and a Swedish company reconstruction.

Intrum is a leading European credit management services provider, operating in 20 markets. It supports businesses in securing repayment from customers and helps consumers regain financial stability.

The recapitalisation was successfully completed on 24 July 2025.
